Music, games, plate sale fundraiser set in Godwin

An event Saturday, Oct. 23, to raise money for new street flags in the town of Godwin will include music by the Raleigh entertainment duo Nancy & Stan, Sandbar Rollers Band.

Sponsored by the town of Godwin and the Godwin Community Watch, activities will take place at the Godwin Community Building, 7827 Royal St.

Barbecue and fish plates will be sold from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fried fish plates will cost $7 each, homemade chopped barbecue plates for $8 or get a combination plate for $9. Plates will include coleslaw, baked beans, a dinner roll and a slice of cake. Carry out, dine in or delivery is available. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Godwin Town Hall or at the door.

Music, provided through a grant funded by the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Arts Council, will start at 1 p.m. There also will be a cornhole tournament at 11 a.m.

In addition to being a Jimmy Buffett tribute act, Nancy & Stan, Sandbar Rollers Band play a variety of music including soft rock, new country, classic rock and beach.
