Neto and Harrington nab Big South weekly awards

Posted

Campbell baseball players Thomas Harrington and Zach Neto both picked up Big South Conference weekly awards following a 2-1 week with a win over The University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a split series at No. 14 Liberty.

Harrington picked up his third Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week award this season. He has now won it three of the four times it has been given this season.

The sophomore tossed seven shutout innings at Liberty on March 11 en route to a 7-0 win. He worked three 1-2-3 innings on the day and did not allow a leadoff runner to reach base. He fanned seven and did not walk a batter. The outing lowered his season ERA to 0.67 and improves his season strikeout-to-walk ratio to 40:2.

Neto picked up his first conference award of the season after winning player of the week once last year and top freshman honors three times in 2021.

The Miami native found his stroke in a major way in last week, slashing .700/.750/1.800 in the three games. Of his seven hits on the week, five went for extra bases while he collected multiple hits in all three contests. His two home runs on Friday carried 451 and 435-feet, respectively, to help Campbell to the win over Liberty. He went deep and doubled again Sunday and picked up the win on the mound against UNCW on Tuesday.
