PAWLEY’S ISLAND, S.C. — Pontus Nyholm shared medalist honors and Campbell finished second in the team standings after Tuesday’s final round of the Golfweek Spring Invitational at True Blue.

Nyholm, who won the True Blue Amateur last September, extended his string of rounds in the 60s to five straight and finished 13-under par along with Carter Morgan of Old Dominion University.

It was Nyholm's second top finish in the 2020-21 season after his triumph last month at the Southern Invitational.

North Dakota State won the 10-team event at 22-under par, followed by Campbell and ODU.

Nyholm, who made only one bogey over his final 43 holes, led the field in par-4 scoring (-6), while playing the par 3 holes even and the par 5 holes 7-under.  He made 14 birdies and a pair of eagles.

Morgan’s incredible finish – an eagle and three birdies over the final four holes – prevented Nyholm from earning the victory outright.

Campbell junior Edwin Blomander tied for 14th at 2-under, his best finish for the Camels since transferring to the program last fall.

Fellow junior Henrik Lilja tied for 16th for his second straight top-20 finish.  Senior Josh Hetherington made three birdies Tuesday in his 2-under round and tied for 20th.

After an eagle on the ninth hole, Nyholm made the turn at 3-under and was 4-under on the day after a birdie on the 13th.  The only blemish on his scorecard since Monday morning was a bogey on the 15th, but he drew level with Morgan two holes later with a birdie on the 17th.

Nyholm’s 54-hole score is tied for eighth-lowest in CU golf history.

Blomander completed the 54-hole event making 10 birdies and 36 pars.  Lilja and Hetherington both had 12 birdies over three days.

Campbell continues its busy two-week stretch this weekend with the Stitch Intercollegiate this Friday, April 9 at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary.
