SPRING LAKE — NyAsia McKinnon recently became the latest Overhills student-athlete to sign an agreement to play at the next level.
During a ceremony at the school Thursday, the Lady Jags middle hitter officially locked in her decision to join a stacked Sandhills Community College volleyball team.
McKinnon enjoyed a career season in 2021-22, pacing the squad with 80 kills and 39 blocks.
The six-foot senior had a season-best 11 kills during the shutout win over Westover on Sept. 27. She also tied a season-high six blocks on three separate occasions.
McKinnon was Overhills' lone representative on this season's All-Record Volleyball Team, earning an honorable mention nod.
She's added to a Sandhills roster that recently finished a 20-7 season, winning the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III, Region 10 championship over nearby Central Carolina Community College. The Flyers concluded their campaign in the Mid-Atlantic A-B District Tournament.
McKinnon was a three-sport athlete during her tenure at Overhills, also lettering in basketball and softball.
