Particularly during this pandemic, God’s still, quiet voice whispers from the Scriptures: “Put your trust in Me, and don’t be afraid. Don’t you rely on no one else but Me. Put no others before Me. I’ve got this whole world in my Hands.” Even when afraid, rely exclusively on the Lord and put your faith and trust in Him.
In the face of fear and doubt, rely totally on the Lord. “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3) is one of the Ten Commandments. Thou are glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders (Exodus 15:11).
Of course, we may sometimes escape to besties to support us during life’s trying times. It’s comfortable to habitually resort to the familiarity of loved ones for answers in navigating life, but do we lean on them more than the Lord?
Even when pushed to the edge by difficulties, completely rely on Jesus. Rise up in full allegiance to God, who is in the midst of us (Palm 46:5). He is here.
OK so, the larger altar call is to check our faith and make sure that it is in the right place. Ultimately, exclusive reliance means exclusive credit to God. To God be the glory for the things He has done!
Good old-fashioned advice: Thank the Lord for grace and mercy. Don’t concentrate on whether or not you deserve it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we constantly deal with temptations to set all kinds of things before You, but we worship You in spirit and truth (John 4:24).
Lord, we don’t limit You. Thanks for making ways and creating doors by putting people in place just for us. Lord, thanks for intervening in our concerns.
Lord Jesus, we absolutely trust in You. Guide us and show us the way. Strengthen our patience. Glory to God!
Sovereign Lord, catch us when we fall or teach us how to fly. We fully rely on You and declare war on doubt. “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You” (Psalm 56:3).
Almighty God, we have no other refuge but You. You are our strength, peace and joy. We choose to depend solely and intently on You.
Lord, thanks for tomorrow — a new day. We recognize that not all storms have disrupted our lives. Thanks for the storms that have cleared paths, so we rely exclusively on You.
Omnipotent One, we are dedicated and surrender all. Thy will be done. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
