Rogers, Jenkins make swim regionals

Seniors Matthew Rogers and Ammon Jenkins will represent Harnett Central during this weekend's North Carolina High School Athletic Association swimming and diving regionals, as announced by the organization Monday.

Both Rogers and Jenkins qualified for the 3A Central regional by taking advantage of last week's meet against Princeton and Tarboro at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center.

Rogers placed first in the men's 200-yard freestyle and his seed time of 2 minutes flat ranks sixth among other regional swimmers.

Jenkins will also take part in the 200 free, as the No. 10 seed, and compete in the 100 breaststroke.

Only the top 12 swimmers from each individual event were chosen for the regional, scheduled to be hosted by Northern Guilford on Saturday, Feb. 6 in Greensboro.
