HRT casting upcoming play

Harnett Regional Theatre will hold auditions at 7 p.m. March 22 and 24 for the upcoming play “Steel Magnolias,” directed by Bob Schmid.

Auditions will be held at The Stewart Theatre on Wilson Avenue in downtown Dunn.

Be prepared to read from the script at the director’s discretion. Due to limits on mass gatherings, those interested are asked to RSVP by visiting onlinehrt.org/auditions/ . Forms are available on the website.

Show dates for the show are May 14-16.

Dunn concert series to return April 15

The Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2021 concert series, presented by the Dunn Area Tourism Authority, will kick off April 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. with Bounce! The Party Band.

Bounce! is a high-energy band from the Raleigh-Durham area that has entertained throughout North Carolina performing favorite dance songs from the last 40 years.

The April concert will be followed by The Band of Oz on May 20 and The Tonez on Oct. 7.

Averasboro Museum now open

The Averasboro Battlefield Museum, located outside of Dunn at 3300 N.C. Highway 82, has reopened and plans to operate on a Tuesday through Saturday schedule. Hours for the visitor’s center and museum are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Averasboro Battlefield Museum is part of the North Carolina Civil War Trails Program.
