Two Harnett schools place at top in electrical trades contest

Posted

Electrical trades students from Harnett County high schools competed against students from Wake and Lee counties in the Connect for Success NC V.O.L.T. (Vocational Occupational Learning Trades) Contest held at Rolesville High School.

Harnett Central and Triton high schools came home with top honors placing first and second, respectively. Rolesville High placed third.

Students had to build a competition board with examples of all kinds of wiring, residential and commercial, said Dan Hoover, electrical trades instructor at Triton.

Students were assisted by their contractor partners and teachers. They prepared for a couple months prior to the event, Hoover said.

This is the first year the schools competed in the contest.
